Powerball finds new millionaires but keeps pot
More than 800,000 winners will share in $12.8 million in cash prizes following last night’s Powerball draw - none of which, however, include the $157 million jackpot that was on the line. It will now rise to $179 million (cash value of $83.5 million) for the next draw on Wednesday.
Heading the list this time out are three millionaires - made possible by matching all six numbers except the Powerball, while also playing the Powerplay option that multiplied their winnings by five. The same sequence without the Powerplay was still good for $200,000 each for 11 players. Nine other tickets have won $50,000 each for hitting on four numbers plus the Powerball - while playing Powerplay - with another 45 winning $10,000 without Powerplay, same sequence. All told, there were 885,793 winners.
Once again, the winning numbers from the Sept. 16 Powerball draw were 7, 8, 26, 27 and 42 with a Powerball of 12. The next chance at the growing jackpot will come Sept. 20.
