The excitement level is growing in Mega Millions and so is the number of winners. In Friday’s Mega Millions drawing, a total of 428,038 tickets won prizes. But no ticket matched all six numbers to win the $31 million jackpot. So the estimated jackpot for the Tuesday, January 24, 2006 drawing grows to $40 million.

Two tickets came within a heartbeat of hitting the jackpot. Each matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were purchased in California and Georgia.
