Mega Millions Jackpot grows To $31 Million
The jackpot in Mega Millions is growing – and there is no shortage of winners! A total of 339,551 tickets from coast to coast won prizes in the Tuesday, January 17, 2006 drawing. That includes four tickets that only missed the Mega Ball number. Since no ticket matched all six numbers, the jackpot for the Friday, January 20 Mega Millions drawing grows to an estimated $31 million.
The winning numbers in Tuesday’s drawing were: 24-32-37-39-40 and the Mega Ball number was 44. Here is a breakdown of all the winning tickets in Tuesday’s drawing*:
4 tickets matched 5 numbers for $250,000
28 tickets matched 4 numbers + the Mega Ball for $10,000
849 tickets matched 4 numbers for $150
971 tickets matched 3 numbers + the Mega Ball for $150
15,616 tickets matched 2 numbers + the Mega Ball for $10
44,707 tickets matched 3 numbers for $7
95,358 tickets matched 1 number + the Mega Ball for $3
182,018 tickets matched the Mega Ball for $2
Those four tickets that matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number were purchased in California (2), New Jersey and Texas.
Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
